Originally downloaded 12/4/06. I was hoping someone would do this after Rogue Amoeba released the outrageously expensive ($32) Fission software, which in the final analysis does very little for your money. Sure enough, here's AudioSlicer, which you can use to split your MP3 files into arbitrary pieces... which is all that Fission does (or did in its first release anyway). I've gotta try it to see how it compares. From what I've read, AudioSlicer analyzes your MP3 files for silences and suggests splits, which you can then edit. In this release, it only supports MP3 files, but the developer plans to extend coverage to other audio formats. There's an excellent user's guide available online, too.
Version as tested: 1.1.
