An About-Face by Microsoft with Atlas?

Atlas and more : DOM events in the Microsoft AJAX Library
From one of Atlas' developers comes this remarkable news that basically Microsoft now realizes that Atlas sucked from a compatibility viewpoint, and they are re-doing it to be more standards-compliant. Rather than trying to force the world to the IE model, they are adapting to the rest of the world. If this is really true, it would be a sea-change in Microsoft's usual behavior, and I have to say that I'll believe it when I try it out. Needless to say, this warrants another look at the Microsoft Ajax framework, whatever they're calling it now. Of course, this still begs the question of why Microsoft doesn't just adopt one of the excellent existing Ajax frameworks rather than trying to build their own... But then, all the other big software companies seem to be doing the same thing, so MS isn't unique in that.
