Originally downloaded 12/10/06. I downloaded another utility that had a similar mission to AppStalker last year, but then forgot about it when Lingon was released to take advantage of Apple's new launchd service. Still, as impressed I am with it, the open-sourced Lingon is a bit of a pain to work with, and perhaps it would be worth paying $10 for something with a better user interface. Oh, now I remember... the other software was Keep-It-Up, which is geared more to server operations and can be licensed for $22.
