I've been observing personal computing behavior for a long time, and now I have some things to say. Here are my two cents about computing, music, software, and related topics.

Good post. The reason most PC users put up with all this, is because they are clueless that there is another way! In my business I have "switched" many Windows users and moved them to Macs. They are always so amazed on how easy their new computer is to use and what they were missing!

You can expose the Windows Desktop by using the keyboard shortcut "Windows D". Alternately, there should be a small Desktop (blotter) icon in Quick Launch which will do the same thing. Not that either is easy to know--Quick Launch is, i think, turned off by default, and I know of no list of shortcuts in Windows like you see in Apple's Keyboard System Preference pane. Windows is like that--even when something *is* available, it's all too often hidden like an Easter Egg. You can use Windows for years and years and never be aware of the simplest of functions.

I teach a college survey course, and because of the school's narrow focus on that OS ("because everyone has it, that's why!"), I have to teach in it--and am famous for my constant grumbling and frequent references to how easy any given task is on a Mac.
