Alas, I read this sterling piece only after having purchased SnapzPro for Leopard a week ago! One of the video gurus at the Palo Alto Apple store told me about IShowYou, and I bought it earlier today. It's stupendous! Leave it to those kiwis!

Great article! even half a year after it's issue! I've been scouring the net for the past two days trying to get my hands on the info on screencasting - and having looked at a lot of sites, forums, and reviews, this a great article. I've been using Snapz Pro, just because iShowU seemed a bit daunting at first, but now that I'm ready to step it up I'll certainly be trying out the iShowU. Thanks!

I was wondering, if you perhaps along your way reasearching for this article, if you stumbled on any of the extra mouse or otherwise features like mousepose or OmniDazzle that screencasters use to make all the effects that make their final product professional?

Thank you, your review was very helpful. I too was stuck using SnapzPro and wasn't really happy about it. I had tried many of the softwares you mentioned but I was unsure about what to do. Your review convinced me to take a closer look at iShowU. I thinks it's the best thing out there so far.

Thanks

Hi Andy,
Sorry, no... I don't have a copy of Illustrator to test this. If I did, I'd start by trying iShowU. It has a fairly sophisticated approach for recording (or not) the cursor. iShowU's developer is also very active and responsive, so if it doesn't do what you're looking for, I'd shoot him a note and ask about it.
Cheers, Leland

Could you tell me if any of the screen recording applications can capture the different cursors which appear when using different tools in Adobe Illustrator?
