I've been observing personal computing behavior for a long time, and now I have some things to say. Here are my two cents about computing, music, software, and related topics.

Even after more than a year, this is very informative.
Would you mind sharing information on how to integrate tineMCE editor?
Thanks

Thanks everyone... Just a quick note to say that I've recently upgraded my organization's wiclear installation to the latest, greatest... version 1.0, which just came out in July 2007. Wiclear may be little known, but it's extremely well designed and you won't find it necessary to run out and get a bucketload of plugins to achieve what you need. The only plugin I've used is for rich-text editing. I no longer use the Dojo editor, however... In the latest upgrade I installed the excellent, open source tinyMCE editor instead. A huge improvement!

I don't think there is one "best" wiki - they are built for different jobs. MediaWiki is great for what it does, and has a lot of unique features, but isn't ideal for everything.

Just wanted to add that Confluence (http://atlassian.com) is a nice contender to JotSpot for the commercial wiki market.

I've been researching the best wiki to use for a client of mine, and I just want to thank you for such an incredibly informative and well-written post. I'm going to try Wiclear right now! It's people like you who make the Web so damn useful and wonderful.

Thanks for good writing. Could you mail me or publish exactly how you incorporated the dojo editor?
Thanks, Bo

WOW, I found your thoughts very very helpful. Like you, I spent several days doing battle with MediaWiki. The translution features are mind bending. I need a wiki that a chimp could drive though. The lack of wysiwyg was a killer since I knew my target audience couldn't do the markup.

I can't wait to try your recommendation.
