I've been observing personal computing behavior for a long time, and now I have some things to say. Here are my two cents about computing, music, software, and related topics.

James left his calling card today, I see... I think it's called "hate mail." This is the kind of person who gravitates to the Microsoft orbit, folks. Why does he hate me so much? He speaks of me being fearful, but I think I expressed my fear pretty clearly. What James fears is that his beloved Microsoft and the few languages he's invested himself in could be threatened by people like me. Now, that's a fear.
Notice the name-calling, and the threat of egg-throwing. Not nice. Nor does he offer any intellectual arguments either... he's just upset that I don't like Microsoft, and that I think Microsoft is a major threat to our society.
Sorry, James... This is not a contest of programming skills. You may very well be better than I am, but so what? Does that make you right? Would I be right if I were a better programmer than you? That isn't how we settle arguments on Mars, my friend.
You refer to LAMP in a negative way, but have you ever used it? Or are you solely Microsoft-trained programmer who really wants nothing more than for all other languages and technologies to be wiped off the face of the earth?
I strongly suspect that's the case.

This is the most intense Mac propoganda I've read to date. You're a border line script kiddy w/ your lamp solution and you call yourself a programmer.

First of all, in terms of security, reliability, and performance, any of my .net and sql server based applications would smoke anything your dumb self could write. I'm willing to put that to the test.

I don't usually respond to this kind of retarded crap on the internet (in fact this is the first time) but something about you rubs me the wrong way. I know what your thinking, "It's probably because you've just come to the stark realization that I'm making some pretty prominent points". Nope, that's not why.

While MS is by no means a perfect company and might not always come up w/ perfect solutions, to knock the .net platform, sql server or any of their apps for builing grade A class applications just pisses me off.

I typically like to refer to this as real programmer envy. You're some slacker script kiddie (maybe not, just guessing) who doesn't really know a bloody thing about comp. sci. or deep software and so you naturally fear what you don't understand.

I would give my left testicle to be in a developer competition with you that had something that went against the script-kiddie-norm just so I could throw some egg in your face.

P.S. I hate you

Hi,

Great article - but you forgot "Access", the database component of the Office suite for Windows, which also does not exist on the Mac OS.

Cheers, Tristan

Great article Leland. I could not agree more. So many people do not get this or realize. Keep up the good work of exposing the truth.<BR/><BR/>Stephen Antonucci<BR/>http://www.reelsmart.com

Leland you are the idiot. Face it: the iPod is a fashion item not a serious music player. I can't even play track gaplessly, and sports an inferior "equaliser". Masses are asses that's why there are "20 million iPod fans" and you are one of the lemmings. LOL
